I.History and Development
Founded in December 2015, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (SCCE), brought together the Department of Chemistry, established in 1958 and the Institute of Energy and Environmental Catalysis, established in March 2015, set up as an internal research centre led by Professor Zhao Zhen, a well-known catalytic scholar in China.
At present, our school has two departments, the Chemistry Department and the Energy Chemical Engineering Department for undergraduate and graduate education. Among them, the Chemistry Speciality is a National First-Class Construction Speciality and Chemical Engineering and Technology is a Key Construction Speciality at the university level.
II. Faculty and Students
As of December 2022, there were 717 undergraduates at the School. They could obtain bachelor’s in Science and Engineering at graduation. There were 149 graduate students, who can obtain master's in Science and Engineering after graduation. Students come from thirteen provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government.
There are 69 faculty members in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Among them, there are 57Ph. D holders and 19 professors and associate professors. 14 teachers have overseas study experience. In addition, Dr. Zhao Zhen received a special allowance distinction from the State Council. There is 1 Distinguished Professor in the Changjiang Scholar Program as designated by the Ministry of Education (MOE), 1 National Talent from the Central Organization Department, and one recognized Outstanding Talent in the New Century.
