Shenyang Normal University launches graduate academic literacy improvement project

On October 13th, the launch ceremony of the Graduate Academic Literacy Enhancement Project and the opening ceremony of the 4th Research and Information Literacy Elite Training Camp at Shenyang Normal University were held in the Academic Lecture Hall on the third floor of the library. Tong Yuping, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Wuhan University, Professor Huang Huahua from the School of Information Management of Wuhan University, and more than 100 representatives of teachers and students attended the event to witness this important moment in promoting the academic growth of graduate students.


The Academic Literacy Enhancement Project for Graduate Students at Shenyang Normal University is jointly organized by the Graduate School, Student Affairs Office, and Library, with the theme of AI Empowering Academia. The project aims to comprehensively enhance graduate students' information awareness, skills, and academic innovation abilities, and integrate the cultivation of scientific research and information literacy into the entire process of graduate education. To achieve this goal, the project has created a multidimensional training system, selecting core members through competitions to form elite training camps. Through organizing high-level expert reports, 15 systematic training sessions, and exclusive mentor guidance, students are provided with comprehensive guidance and improvement from both theoretical and practical perspectives. At the same time, all training courses are open courses, and all graduate students can participate in learning, achieving universal access to high-quality academic resources.


At the launch ceremony, Tong Yuping affirmed the significance of this event in enhancing the academic literacy of graduate students. She encouraged the students present to cherish learning opportunities, deepen their understanding and application of information literacy in subsequent activities, effectively enhance their core scientific research abilities, and lay a solid foundation for future academic research and career development.


Library director Wu Jin provided a detailed interpretation of the overall plan for the graduate student academic literacy improvement project. She stated that the library will continue to integrate internal and external resources, building a three in one growth platform of theory+practice+competition for students, and fully assisting in the high-quality training of graduate students.


At the ceremony, the leading readers appointment and training camp flag ceremony were also held simultaneously. In order to promote the dissemination of academic reading and the academic growth of graduate students, Tong Yuping awarded leading reader appointment letters to Huang Huahua and Jing Yongjun, officially inviting the two experts to serve as leading readers at Shenyang Normal University, to safeguard the improvement of graduate students' information literacy and academic path planning; Subsequently, Li Difei, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office, presented the flag to the representatives of the 4th Elite Training Camp for Scientific Research and Information Literacy. The handover of the flag not only symbolized the official launch of the event, but also represented that the students had taken on the responsibility and mission of academic exploration.


Liu Chenyang, a representative of the training camp students and a second year graduate student at the International Business School, promises on behalf of all campers to deepen the curriculum with a learner's attitude, help each other grow as peers, and take on the role of practitioners to apply what they have learned. They will gain knowledge and become close friends in the training camp, and live up to the expectations of the school and teachers.
